Expertise and creativity

Award-winning engineering and environmental design consultancy BWB Consulting is working to make the world a better place. Part of CAF Group, it supports public and private sector clients, helping them to deliver transformative projects efficiently and sustainably. With a forward-looking approach and talented, multi-disciplinary team, BWB Consulting can design, plan, and deliver these projects, whatever the development sector.

Becoming part of CAF Group has strengthened the firm, which is able to tap into additional expertise and resource. Today, the two organisations are playing a central role in digital engineering, the development of smart cities, and infrastructure investment around the world.

With a 30-year track record in the private sector, BWB Consultancy is renowned for its flexibility and responsiveness. While it boasts the reach and expertise of a large consultancy, the firm is still able to operate agilely, pragmatically, and competitively. It strives to really ‘be there’ for clients, acting decisively and in a timely manner.

This approach sets BWB Consultancy’s rail group apart from the competition, and is underpinned by six concepts: safety first, responsive, decisive, competitive, practicable, and technically astute.

Rail engineering services

Civil engineering

Ranging from support with one-off developments (e.g drainage, access facilities) to strategic infrastructure and ground modelling that transforms communities. BWB Consultancy takes a commercial yet sustainable approach to these projects, helping clients to secure technical approval while facilitating innovation.

Desk studies and engineering appraisals

Expert advice that helps clients to assess risks and opportunities when making a new acquisition.  Appraisals (which can be simple or in-depth) usually cover issues including flood risk, flood risk, ground conditions, drainage, and utilities.

Digital reality capture

This digital monitoring service bridges the gap between digital design and 3D laser scanning surveying. Using raw survey data, the BWB Consulting team ‘capture reality’ and present it in a form that digital engineers and designers can work with.

Project management and procurement

Drawing on extensive industry experience, BWB Consulting’s project managers support clients from business case preparation through to asset operation and maintenance. Their services include total contract management, design team appointment, cost plans, bills of quantities, interim and final valuations, and site supervision.

Rail Civils

Agile and independent, BWB Consulting’s civils design services cover:

  • Feasibility.
  • Gauging.
  • Tender.
  • D&B and construction stages.

The firm works independently rather than on Network Rail frameworks, enabling it to offer value-drive solutions. Services include: lineside civils services, specialist foundation design, survey and site investigation works, reporting and management.

Rail signalling

Working independently of Network Rail Frameworks, BWB Consulting’s experienced signalling design team can undertake everything from the design/replacement of individual signals to the creation of sophisticated new signalling systems. With an agile approach and an understanding of both new and legacy technologies, it’s well placed to advise clients.

Rail Track

BWB Consulting develops permanent way solutions for passenger network, light rail, and freight infrastructure projects. Services include: design, engineering, management and reporting, and site based services.
