About us

Established in 1977 and employing over 300 people in its 115,000 square foot facility, Hydram Sheet Metalwork is one of the largest sheet metal fabrication companies in Europe. It offers the full range of subcontract engineering services including laser cutting, CNC punching, panel bending and folding, tube laser cutting and tube bending, fabrication, powder coating, wet painting and assembly from its site in Chilton, County Durham, UK.

Hydram Sheet Metalwork supplies metal components and fabrications to companies in the aerospace, railway, bus and coach industries. Hydram is closely affiliated with the Dynamic Metals Group which has been a leading supplier to major transportation manufacturers for over 40 years.

Supplying precision sheet metal fabrications to the rail industry
In 2016, Hydram was selected by Hitachi Rail Europe to supply metal fabrications for the Intercity Express Programme. Along side this project Hydram secured further work from Hitachi including the Scotrail Franchise project. In total, Hydram supplied more than 1,000 different parts and assemblies to Hitachi Europe and Italy.
